The last Friday of Ramadan-ul-Mubarak is called Jumma-Tul-Wida. The word ‘Jumma’ belongs to the Arabic language which meaning is “Gathering”. As the word “Wida” means “Farewell”, so the meanings of the phrase Jumma-Tul-Wida are the Friday of Farewell.
It is also called al-Jumu’ah al-Yateemah (Orphand’s Friday) in Arabic. The last Friday of Ramadan indicates the advent of ‘Eid-ul-Fitr as Ramadan will end in that running week.
Importance of Last Friday of Ramadan
Friday is the religious day of Muslims on which a congregational mid-day prayer is offered in the mosques. Friday is also considered as the weekly ‘Eid in Islam on which it’s recommended to take bath, wear neat clothes and use of fragrance to offer the congregation prayer along with the mid-day prayer Duhur (Zuhar) in the mosque. Female is also allowed to offer this prayer but it’s not an obligation for them to offer this prayer. However, they can also offer the prayer either in their homes or in mosques.
Allah also guided us about the importance of Friday Prayer in Quran-e-Majeed:
Significance of Juma-Tul-Wida
It is considered the 2nd most important day of Ramadan Kareem. Most people spend the whole day in doing Ibaadah as offering Nafal prayers, doing Dhikar, and arrange iftars to eat poor people.
However, the opinions about the significance of the last Friday of Ramadan are different. According to some famous scholars, there is nothing special in the last Friday of Ramadan that distinguishes it from the other Fridays of the holy month.
It is also said that the offering of obligatory prayers on the last Friday of Ramadan will be a makeup for any deficiencies in the prayers of the whole year. As the Ash-Shawkaani (May God bless him with peace) stated in “Al-Fawaa’id Al-Majmoo’ah” a Hadeeth which states that “whoever prays the five obligatory prayers in the last Friday of the month of Ramadan, this will make up for any deficiencies for his prayer throughout the whole year.”, but he also said: “this is a fabricated Hadeeth without any difference of opinion about that.”
However, God knows better about the truths of earth and the heavens.
